The Rebecca Winslow Spirit Award

Rebecca Winslow, a Dayton Christian Women’s Soccer player, was killed in a car accident on October 5, 2007. After that tragic event, an award was established in her name and memory. This award is presented every year to a senior student-athlete.  This award is unique because EVERY varsity head coach will nominate one of their senior student-athletes for consideration of this scholarship.

Goal: To recognize one senior student-athlete who is a positive role model not only within their varsity sport but also within the school, their local church, and community.

Criteria: The senior athlete will be coach nominated based on demonstrated principles of sportsmanship, positive attitude, academic integrity, Christ-like character, local church service, and community involvement.

Award Process: Every varsity head coach will nominate one senior student-athlete who possesses these characteristics listed in the criteria category above. Nominations must be submitted to the Athletic Director by April 24.

Award Selection: The nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee. The committee will select one recipient.

Award Presentation: The recipient will receive a $500 award during the senior awards ceremony in May. The recipient’s name and year will be added to a wood plaque that will be displayed in the Warrior Center. The award will be presented by the Winslow Family, the Athletic Director, a representative of the Athletic Booster Club, and/or by the recipient’s head coach.
